Over three Saturdays in July, Century Park, home of the Annenberg Space for Photography, filled with all-age crowds enjoying the music of Miguel, Gabriel Garzon-Montano, Lo Moon, Mondo Cozmo, Paul Oakenfold, Natalia Laforcade, Rodrigo y Gabriela and KCRW DJs. Onsite, a powerful photography exhibition by Lauren Greenfield examined the influence of affluence and consumerism over the last 25 years. 

Save KPLUCOMMUNITY SAVES 88.5FM AND VITALIZES ITS TRANSITION TO INDEPENDENT, COMMUNITY-OWNED KNKX, MAY 2016

In response to Pacific Lutheran University’s intent to sell 88.5fm, nonprofit Friends of 88.5fm formed with a fundraising goal of $7 million over the course of 5 months to establish independent ownership of the station that would preserve its mix of local and NPR® news, jazz and blues. Extraordinary community outreach and response secured more than $7 million in only 137 days, successfully founding 88.5fm knkx and proving that “radio for and by the people” is alive and well in Western Washington.

Against a backdrop of shrinking newsrooms around the country, today WAMU 88.5 announced the first stage of an ambitious plan to grow its news staff and strengthen its regional coverage.

KUTX 98.9, The Austin Music Experience, and Four Seasons Hotel Austin partnered to connect music fans to some of the best acts performing at the 2017 Austin City Limits Festival, in the comforts of the hotel’s haven-like setting. Valerie June (photographed by Martin do Nascimento for KUTX) was one of the performers. All proceeds from the event benefit the the Seton Infusion Center which provides a variety of outpatient services for adult cancer patients. Since 2010, KUTX Live at the Four Seasons has raised nearly $62,000 during the Austin City Limits event series alone.
